You know that Cheap Trick is influenced by The Beatles. Some people say that IWYTWM is the best Beatle-song , The Beatles never wrote... :-)) If you listen to the Cheap Trick-songs you will find out some links or phrases from the Beatles. Cheap Trick '77: The song Taxman,Mr Thief is of course very related to "Taxman" written by George Harrison in 1966. In Color/At Budukan: Just like at "Sgt. Pepper" there is also an openingsong and a reprise. When you listen to "Hello there" and "Goodnight now" you know what I mean. Robin is singing about 'old brown shoes' in 'I want you to want me'. Just like George did in his song. Found All The Parts: There is of course "Daytripper". I think Cheap Trick's version is better than the original. At the end ,Robin sings the Beatles-song"She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah", just like the Beatles did in "All you need is love" Dream Police: The alter-ego's "Dream Police" is related to the alterego's from Sgt.Pepper. All Shook Up: The producer was Sir George Martin. In the sixties he was also the producer from a four-mansband from Liverpool... The SgtPepper-album ends with "A day in the life" This songs ends with a long fading out E-chord. 'All Shook Up' begins with this same tune in "Can't stop the music" !listen "Go for the throat(use your own imagination) reminds to "Think for yourself" Helter Skelter from the 'White Album' was at that moment the loudest number of The Beatles. If you listen to "love comes a tumblin down" you hear/feel the same vibe. One On One In "She's Tight" there is the quote "I had a smoke and went upstairs". If you know "a Day In the live" there the Beatles sing in the middle part "Found my way upstairs and had a smoke" I haven't that much CT-music from the eighties, 'cause personaly I don't like that period , so I make a great jump to the Metro-sessions. If yo listen to C'mon C'mon, you hear the lick from "Please me" (Rick plays this tune on several concert in several songs over the years,it's a nice fill-in) You know the song "Magical Mystery Tour" and maybe also the CT-cover of this song. If you listen to that song you hear the alarmclock ringing just like in "A day in the live". But that's not all: at the end you here a phrase of "I am th walrus"A day in the life "I am the walrus"
If you have suggestions or new things about this topic, please let me know.I'curious ! I think there is more to discover about the CT-songs.This is only one part...
